PANIC ATTACKS
Panic Attacks

PANIC ATTACKS
Every one of us will feel anxious from time to time and this is perfectly normal, however when a panic attack strikes it feels anything but normal. A panic attack can happen completely out of the blue and very often for little or no apparent reason and can be very debilitating as the symptoms tend to be cyclical. This means that one attack produces fear in the person about having another attack and thus it is by the nature of the problem far more likely that this will happen again.
Panic attacks are characterized by unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear, accompanied by physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat, chest pains, tingling sensations in your body and difficulty breathing. With these symptoms it is understandable that you might think you are having a heart attack. Panic attacks are not dangerous but they are still extremely unpleasant experiences every time they happen.
The good news is that panic does not have to become a way of life, I can teach you more effective responses and give you the tools to be able to regain control of how you respond to panic attacks
So take that first step towards taking back control of your life and Contact E-Therapy now. Just pick up the phone or fill in an enquiry form and we can work together from there.
FEARS & PHOBIAS
Fears & Phobias

FEARS AND PHOBIAS
A phobia is an irrational fear of a thing or situation that causes an intense negative emotional reaction to the point a person will start to sweat or feel sick, start to panic or shake, therefore most people will avoid contact with whatever makes them afraid.
Being afraid of snakes will probably not affect your daily life, but other fears and phobias such as flying can have a bigger impact on a person’s life with them never going abroad on a holiday with family or friends.
Usually a phobia has developed as a result of something happening in the past or it could have been learnt behaviour. For example imagine as a young child if you had a parent or older brother/sister who was afraid of bees or dogs who ran away or screamed every time they saw a bee or dog. Your subconscious mind will then learn that a bee or dog is something that could harm you and therefore to protect you (unknown to you) your phobia of bees or dogs develops.
When avoidance of the phobia starts to cause distress or hampers a person’s ability to work, socialise or take care of their day to day needs that is when help should be sought.
So take that first step to removing that phobia and regaining control of your life and Contact E-Therapy now. Just pick up the phone or fill in an enquiry form and we can work together from there.
SELF ESTEEM
Confidence & Self Esteem

CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM
A lack of confidence or low self-esteem can ripple out into every area of our lives, it can prevent you going for that job or promotion in work, from meeting new people, speaking in public, trying new things, restricting the enjoyment life has to offer.
It is important to remember that we were all born with confidence, look at how babies and toddlers explore with no fear. Lack of confidence and low self-esteem are learned and the good news is that they can also be unlearned.
Imagine becoming that confident person that you know you can be, feeling confident in that job interview, being able to deliver a speech at a wedding or giving that presentation to an audience.
My aim is to build your confidence and self-esteem to make long lasting positive changes in your life and help you reach your full potential.

ANGER MANAGEMENT
Anger Management

ANGER MANAGEMENT
Anger is a natural emotion to feel and we have all experienced that surge of anger. Now while being angry from time to time is part of our human make up as it helps us detect and respond to threatening situations, when anger is not expressed in a healthy and positive way it can be a very destructive and dangerous emotion affecting our health and our personal and work relationships in a negative way
Anger often has the root cause elsewhere, and the anger is just a symptom of what is going on in life or in a relationship with another person at home or work..
It can be really hard to take the first step and admit you have a problem with anger and rage, if your anger is causing distress to you and those around you, then anger management therapy could be right for you. While you may not be able to control the situations that might provoke your anger, with anger management counselling you can learn to manage your reaction to these situations in a more positive way.
So take that step and Contact E-Therapy now. Just pick up the phone or fill in an enquiry form and we can work together from there.
DEPRESSION
Depression

DEPRESSION
There are times when we can all feel sad, hopeless or fed up, it’s part of life and while these are understandable reactions to stressful or upsetting events or experiences it is also quite normal to experience those feelings for no reason at all. It is when these feelings persist it can be a sign of depression.
Depression is an illness, it is not a sign of weakness and cannot just be ‘snapped out of’. It is easy to blame ourselves, but depression can affect anyone. In its mildest form depression can mean just being in low spirits. It doesn’t stop you leading your normal life but makes everything harder to do and seem less worthwhile. At its most severe, depression can be life-threatening because it can make you feel suicidal or simply give up the will to live.
Depression can be hard to spot as there are many different symptoms, some emotional and some physical. Below are some of the most common symptoms, so if you have experienced 4 or more of these symptoms for most of the day- every day- for more than 2 weeks it might be time to talk with a therapist and also visit your GP for help.
- Tiredness and loss of energy
- Persistent sadness
- Loss of confidence and self-esteem
- Difficulty concentrating and making decisions
- Avoiding others and becoming isolated and lonely
- Not being able to enjoy things that are usually pleasurable or interesting
- Undue feelings of guilt or worthlessness
- Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness
- Sleeping problems – difficulties in getting off to sleep or waking much earlier than usual
- Finding it hard to function at work/college/school
- Change in appetite
- Loss of sex drive and/ or sexual problems
- Physical aches and pains
- Thinking about suicide and death
- Self-harm

EXAM STRESS
Exam Stress

EXAM STRESS
Exam nerves can affect anyone, at any age. It doesn’t matter how much a person has revised or how much experience they have, the chances are they will still have a feeling of panic.
Many of us will also be able to recall how nerve-racking it can be to take a test, the sensation of butterflies in our stomach, our palms get sweaty, our hearts race and we fear our memory will let us down.
Feeling stressed and anxious before an exam is expected and feeling nervous is a natural emotion. Lots of people will find these feelings a motivator and a way to focus on the task, but some of us will find the pressure overwhelming. When nerves become out of control, they can lead to anxiety attacks and stress, if a person does not know how to cope with these feelings.
Preparing for an exam and successfully completing it is not just about how knowledgeable you are, but also your state of mind. Feeling calm, relaxed, focused and confident when studying and sitting the exam means you will be much more likely to achieve your full potential. While accessing this state of mind is a skill, it can often be learned by implementing new ways of thinking.
Hypnotherapy is a common method used for helping control exam nerves as it can help boost confidence and reduce feelings of anxiety. It can help you develop the ability to access the calm state of mind needed to sit an exam

MONEY MANAGEMENT
Money Management

MONEY MANAGEMENT
For most people manging your finances is nothing more than a pile of paperwork and numbers, however if you take the time to manage them it can have a profound & positive impact on your life.
WHY?
Because it can help you stay on top of your bills, save or make you money and using this extra money to pay off debts, investing in both your family’s future and your own or helping towards a deposit for buying your own home.
At school we were taught basic maths but most of us were probably never taught basic money management, skills like creating a budget, investing for the future, or even how credit cards work.
The worry and stress that are caused by having more money going out than is being put in can be massive and can put a strain on both your physical and mental wellbeing
I have over 20 years’ experience working for one of the largest banks in Northern Ireland which has given me a unique blend of skills to offer clients a wide range of services and an in-depth knowledge of the banking world both personal and business.
This enables me to help teach and guide you towards making better informed decisions regarding managing your finances, creating a budget, managing credit cards and loans and reducing your monthly outgoings and stop you paying avoidable bank charges.
Take that step and Contact E-Therapy so that I can teach you how to make your money work for you.
